American Lager - 1 Hour Recipe Kit

$34.99

Pale and refreshing with light bitterness and gentle hops

Inspired by beers such as: Hamm’s Beer, Budweiser, Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR)

An American Lager is a light-bodied beer that is typically pale yellow in color. It has a crisp, clean flavor with a low hop bitterness. American Lagers are often brewed with corn or rice, which gives them a smooth, slightly sweet taste. They are the most popular type of beer in the United States.

While lager yeasts often require cold fermentation to achieve their delicate, clean flavors, this beer is fermented with a kveik yeast* that allows for a lager-like profile without the need for precise temperature control. Hence, why we call it a “pseudo-lager”.

*Kveik yeasts are special Scandinavian-bred yeast cultures that ferment rapidly at room temperature or even higher. Kveiks have various flavor profiles — this kit uses Omega Yeast’s Lutra Kveik, which has a consistently clean, neutral flavor across its 68–95° temperature range.

Simply Brewing® 1 Hour Recipe Kits contain all the ingredients for new and experienced brewers to easily brew 2.5 gallons of beer in a simple, 1-hour brewday with the use of a 1 Hour Equipment Kit and any 10+ quart stovetop pot. The brew process involves dissolving malt extract into heated water, steeping bags of milled grain (if applicable), boiling and/or steeping bags of hop pellets, and cooling the wort (unfermented beer) in a sink to be added to your fermentation vessel. The wort is then topped off with chilled water for an even faster cool, and the yeast is added. All this including cleanup takes just 1 hour!
